Research
One's importance sometimes only comes to light, by its absence. Dismal crop output and underutilised land are ideal indicators of the importance of agricultural research. KIAAR strives to address these very issues.
KIAAR was established with the aim of conducting applied research for the benefit of the farming community at large and regional sugar factories, in particular. Working towards this goal, the Institute has helped in identifying high sugar varieties suitable to the region and also in discovering newer varieties of sugar. These crops are fast becoming an integral part of cane crushing in the neighboring Indian states. With about ten such institutes in the country, KIAAR is the only one of its kind in the private sector and is acknowledged as a centre for sugarcane research for the Indian peninsular region.
Led by eminent scientific personalities, KIAAR has always benefited from their knowledge and experience. Over the years, this has come to play a vital role in the agricultural activities of the Somaiya Group.
Healthcare
Somaiya Ayurvihar was incorporated solely to promote healthcare. The Ayurvihar Medical Complex is a multidisciplinary institution housing various disciplines of medicine, viz. allopathy, ayurveda, homeopathy and naturopathy. It is spread over 22 acres of land at Sion in North Bombay, India and is being developed even further. At present, it is home to our medical institutions, like :

Publications
To complement its education wing, the Somaiya Trust has a publishing centre, Somaiya Publications. It publishes books that make scholars out of most. As also, educating the public on topics ranging from Indian culture to issues facing Indian society. Somaiya Publications Pvt. Ltd. is committed to the dissemination of traditional as well as contemporary knowledge and culture. It came into being as a corollary of Somaiya Vidyavihar.

Somaiya Trust is a translation of the vision of K.J. Somaiya. To prepare the youth to face challenges of modern world.
