I have done my M.B.B.S, in 1984, University of Nagpur, Anjana Mahajan Medal for standing first in Midwifery & Gynecology, M.D.(Internal Medicine) 1988, University of Nagpur, Diplomate National Board(D.N.B.) Nephrology, 1993, Doctorate in Nephrology (D.M.) 1994, Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore.

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Senior Registrar (Nephrology), CMC, Vellore. - The renal unit at the Christian Medical College Hospital,Vellore is one of the largest unit's in Asia. The hemodialysis has 18 stations. A little over a 100 live related donor transplants are performed every year. As a Senior registrar & D.M. trainee my duties included management of patients referred to the renal service,patients on dialysis, placement of accesses for dialysis and CAVHD like subclavian catheters, Scribner shunts and construction of AV fistulae. I routinely perform renal biopsies. Evaluation of transplant patients and donors pre and post operatively.

  • Advanced Trainee/Renal Registrar, Women's & Children's Hospital, North Adelaide. The Renal Unit at the Women's & Children's Hospital is a tertiary care referral centre for the whole of South Australia and Northern Territory. It has a 5 station haemodialysis unit. About 2-3 renal transplants are performed a year. As a renal registrar my duties included management of neonates/children on haemodialysis and CCPD. Care of renal transplant patients, renal consults and attendance of the outpatient service.

  • Senior Registrar,Department of Nephrology,Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woodville, Adelaide - The renal unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital is one of the oldest and most sucessful renal transplant centres in Australia.About 50 cadaveric renal transplants are performed every year.We have 198 patients on maintenance hemodialysis and 20 on CAPD.As senior registrar my duties included management of renal translant recipients,patients on hemodialysis as well as peritoneal dialysis,renalconsults.I also took active part in lecturing medical students and trainee specialist renal nurses.

  • Clinical Tutor-Department of Medicine, University of Adelaide. - As a clinical tutor in Medicine I take active part in teaching/lecturing medical students and interns.

  • Consultant Nephrologist, Bombay Hospital & Research centre, Mumbai The renal unit in Bombay hospital has a 10 station dialysis unit and a very active renal transplant programme.This 1500 bed tertiary referral centre is one of the biggest and most exclusive private hospitals in the country.I worked on a fee for service contract here.I took active part in the training of nephrology trainees.
