BIMA was established on 16th July, 1951. The year 2000-2001 has proved to be a landmark in the history of BIMA since our Golden Jubilee Function of BIMA was inaugrated by none other than Hon'ble Cheif Minister of Maharashtra Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh on 19th July, 2000 at Shri Y B Chavan Auditorium, near Mantralaya.
The Steel Scenario
With many and rapid changes in the economic scenario and as a result of policy of liberalization and globalization, the problems confronting Indian Steel Industry have increased manifold. It is rightly said that the next decade or next century will be the "CUSTOMER'S CENTURY" and sooner we realize, the better for all of us. If we have to survive, we will have to focus our attention to the customer who will be the real king.
With the rise in international prices, the material which we are importing is is costlier by about Rs. 2000 /- per tonne. At present, domestic demand is not picking up due to global recession. Therefore, the prospects of the steel industry appear to be bleak.
